House Passes American Clean Energy and Security Act
After a dramatic day of debate on Friday, June 26, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, by a vote of 219 -212. SIGMA will be providing additional details on the legislation soon.

Take me out to the Ballgame at the Summer Legislative Conference!
When you come to DC this summer for the Legislative Conference, (and if you are not – why not – Congress needs to hear from their constituents – that is you!) come a day early and enjoy a baseball game with your fellow SIGMA members on Monday, July 20th at 7:05 p.m. (transportation will leave the hotel about 6 pm).
We have a great evening planned, transportation to and from the hotel, a great seat to watch the action, $20 food credit, great networking, and the opportunity to see a team that is on it’s way up – and in the top 10 major league teams in on base and slugging percentage and Home Runs – oh and then there is also an opportunity to see their opponent – the New York Mets, who as I write this, are chasing the World Series Champs the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the competitive NL East. Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT) to Speak at Summer Legislative Meeting Send Off Breakfast
Congressman Peter Welch (D-VT) will address SIGMA members on Wednesday morning, July 22, at the Breakfast “How to Lobby” and Send off Session. Congressman Welch worked as a public defender and in 1980 he became the second only Democrat elected to represent Windsor County in the Vermont State Senate. Welch was elected in 1985 to serve as President Pro Tem of the Vermont Senate. Returning to the Senate in 2002 he was then again elected as President Pro Tem in 2003, a position in which he held until 2006. In 2006, Welch was elected as Vermont’s lone U.S. Representative and was then reelected in 2008. Congressman Welch serves on the Committee on Energy and Commerce, the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.
